Hoje a Igreja nos convida a contemplar a vida de Santo Olavo, o santo rei da Noruega.
Nascido em 995 numa família real, Olavo mostra-nos com sua vida que a santidade não escolhe profissão, nem posição social, pois ela não vêm sobre classes, mas sim em corações abertos à Graça de Cristo. Aconteceu que o jovem Olavo foi para a Inglaterra numa expedição e assim pôde conhecer Jesus, o Cristianismo e ser batizado, isto em 1014. Ao voltar para a casa, Olavo, que era herdeiro do trono, encontrou o falecimento do pai e usurpadores do reino.
Assim teve Olavo de assumir o trono e submeter os inimigos pelo combate. Quando esteve no poder, Santo Olavo buscou a santidade como rei; sem deixar de fazer de tudo para levar Deus aos súditos, por isso, procurou acabar com o paganismo, construir igrejas e trazer sacerdotes da Inglaterra para evangelizar seu povo. Todos os esforços de Olavo para submeter a Noruega ao Rei dos reis e Senhor dos senhores encontraram êxitos e barreiras, ao ponto do santo rei ter que ficar por um tempo exilado e ao voltar foi vítima de um conflito armado em 1030.
